CHICAGO — I’ll admit I never really got into podcasts even when they started to get really popular. But one day, I discovered there were podcasts all about Halloween and spooky stuff — and I was hooked.
The first podcast I ever listened to was the Black Flame Society Podcast, which was the perfect way to wait for the drop of the “Hocus Pocus” sequel.

Since then, I’ve explored a few other spooky podcasts that I’ve enjoyed during my trips to and from work. Take a look at some of my favorite Halloween podcasts that are perfect for your morning commute:
The Black Flame Society Podcast
“Gather ’round and join two of the world’s biggest Hocus Pocus fans as we discuss all things Halloween and HP, including news, merchandise, behind the scenes info, those pesky deleted scenes and much, much more!“
This is obviously the perfect podcast for “Hocus Pocus” fans. Hocus Pocus Collector and Spooky Wil started this little project right around the time the Halloween community heard that a sequel to the cult classic was on the way.

The podcast is filled with fun facts about the movie, the cast and everything in between. I swear, I learn something new every time I tune in. It’s a “Hocus Pocus” fan’s paradise.
Ghouls Night In
“Two ghouls share history, fun facts, and personal stories about spooky topics from Halloween folklore to favorite horror films.”
Ghouls Night In makes you feel like you’re gossiping with your two best friends. Hosted by Midge Munster and Penny Snark, the podcast dives deep into all things creepy and spooky. On the latest episode, the ghouls explained the history behind Friday the 13th and the superstitions behind the day. I 100% learned a lot of fun facts that I immediately shared with friends after I listened.
(Also, let’s talk about that “Office” reference in the latest episode. I love a good “Office” reference.)
Midge and Penny have a way of talking that really makes you feel like you’re part of the conversation. The two know everything there is to know about spooky stuff, so you’ll definitely finish a podcast learning a thing or two.
Not Another Spooky Podcast
“Keep the spook alive all year with Mandy Spooks! This isn’t your average spooky, horror, or Halloween podcast. Here, we fan ghoul over spooky pop culture and learn from it, too! If you have always loved Halloween, horror, true crime, ghosts, or basically anything spooky then you have found your spooky family.”
Not Another Spooky Podcast was created by Mandy Spooks and covers all things spooky, nerdy and pop culture-related. Mandy keeps the spook going all year. She talks a lot about the Halloween season, but also touches on a lot of pop culture, true crime and anything else that you can put under the giant spooky umbrella.
One cool thing Mandy does is allow her followers to be the “co-host.” If you follow her on Instagram, she’ll often post questions and your replies could be featured on the podcast. It’s very interactive, which I love.
Also, learned a new phrase from here: Spookmas. Whereas a lot of people in the Halloween fandom use Creepmas or Hexmas as a way to describe a Halloween/Christmas mashup, Mandy uses Spookmas. And I for one LOVE the way it sounds.
This is a go-to podcast if you want some feel-good spooky vibes.

It’s Always Halloween
“A year-round celebration of Halloween history and traditions, spooks past and present, with your master of scare monies Lucé Tomlin-Brenner.”
OK history buffs, this one is for you. Halloween has such a rich, deep history and the “It’s Always Halloween” podcast does a fantastic job of breaking it down. Every episode teaches you something new about the holiday and you can really tell how much care and research Lucé puts into each episode. There are so many details. It’s like a history class — only fun!
This is perfect if you want to be a Halloween know-it-all at the next creepy costume party.
So what do you think, spooky friends? Are you going to give any of these a try? What other podcasts should we all listen to? Let me know in the comments.
