CHICAGO — It’s official: McDonald’s is bringing back their iconic Halloween Happy Meal Pails this October.
The burger giant confirmed Thursday that their beloved Halloween buckets (or “Boo buckets” as they’re sometimes called) are making a comeback to participating United States McDonald’s from Oct. 18 through Oct. 31.
“We heard you loud and clear… if spooky SZN doesn’t include McDonald’s Halloween Pails, then you don’t want it,” McDonald’s said in a press release.

The Halloween buckets act as both the meal’s toy and container (the bucket replaces the usually red and yellow box).
It’s unclear if McDonald’s will place any limitations to how many Happy Meals each customer can order given the pails’ popularity, but food blogger Markie Devo reported that only one design will be available at each restaurant.
The buckets first made their appearance in 1986 with the classic trio — McBoo, McPunk’n and McGoblin. The same three characters are back this time around with a slightly different design.
In their press release, McDonald’s noted the Halloween fandom’s love for the nostalgic buckets and is sharing various ways customers can reuse the pails after Halloween.
