A Spooky Little Bat With Really Big Meaning

“On October 31, 2013, my dad passed away. That night, in a state of shock, I handed out candy to trick-or-treaters, but was hardly “celebrating” Halloween. Every Halloween that followed, I resented the day & everyone who made plans to go to a party. I dressed up a couple of times, but felt guilty for “celebrating” when it had become such a painful anniversary. As each Halloween came and past, I accepted my dad’s passing a little more each year. After 7 or 8 years, I finally felt I had fully accepted his death & gave myself permission to enjoy Halloween. Last year, I finally found a Halloween flash tattoo I loved, and decided to get it on October 31st. Autumn has been and still is my favorite season and I can’t wait to decorate my house & celebrate this year, while honoring my dad’s passing and his life.”

A Pair of Black Cats

Thank you to everyone who shared their tattoos and the stories behind them. I don’t have any Halloween tattoos myself (unless you count my Sorting Hat tattoo as spooky), but one day, I’m getting a pumpkin or maybe a Pumpkin Spice Latte to show off my love for the fall season.
